"If we are truly to be the Oregon of the South Pacific, and not merely the de facto love child of Vancouver, Trollope, the musical 'South Pacific,' and Tony Blair, we're going to need some real Fiji-style weather," she notes. Her poll popularity promptly soars. The opposition leader, Dr. Donald Brash, counters, "If elected, National will outlaw winter altogether--or maybe export it to Oz."
